Top trends via Topshop

26 May

*Psst, psst* I have a secret to tell you that I swore to secrecy I wouldn’t tell anybody – I swore down on my sister’s life and everything (I don’t have a sister btw so I am free to tell you everything.)

The VIP Topshop show that took place at The Dickens Inn was, come closer, *whispers* the first EVER Topshop fashion show to take place outside of London Fashion Week! – quite an accomplishment for our awesome little town innit?

The Topshop event showcased this seasons biggest trends from floaty sunny summer dresses to everybody’s shoe MUST-HAVE  – a nude pair of courts.

The show started off with this seasons biggest trend – colour blocking. Remember girls, loud and proud colour combinations make for a dynamic and extremely confident look.

Go tropical mixing hot pink with tangerine or as shown on the Topshop catwalk go cool with mint green and cobalt blue. Add a multicoloured wooden necklace to your outfit for a v.trendy tribal inspired look.

Not so much of a catwalk trend but more of a definite summer look which we ALL love to try out – even if we wouldn’t dream of attempting to walk through a lake of mud and using a portaloo – is festival fashion.

Topshop is the master of the festival look and teaming up a cute and dainty poppy printed playsuit with a 3/4 bleach stone denim jacket is the perfect look for those long summer days.

However, the less said about those orthopedic clogs the better.

The boys also got a look-in at the Topshop show as well – showing off Topmans biggest trends for this season.

Tribal t-shirts paired with light denim shorts and those all important mustard coloured chinos are a MUST-DO for any fashion forward fella this summer.

Add a few cord & rope bracelets, some tousled hair and that all-important brooding stare and the girls will be dropping like flies at your TOMS covered feet.

From the decade that brought us the heart-throb Elvis Presley, Playboy magazine and credit cards, the 50’s look took to the catwalk in full flirtatious force.

Topshop showcased this emerging trend through big skirts, bobby socks and beehives. Peachy colours work best this season to show off your holiday tans.

Keep an eye out for a bit of unusuality such as twisted halter necks, cut-outs and  mini lengths to keep you from looking like an extra in Grease.

So next time you’re in Topshop looking for a new outfit how about mixing it up by combining all this season’s biggest trends – a colour blocked prom dress with festival feel accessories? – might sound a bit crazy on paper but it will look amazingly stylish in reality and I would definitely put you in the lookbook!
